My name is Toby Saltzman, and I found this site while searching for Paranormal Investigators in Louisiana due to possible activity in my residence. I looked around the site for a while and was very impressed with the professionalism and work ethic of the group. I've since changed my mind about having my residence investigated (I want to dig deeper into the issue myself before wasting someone else's time, more on that later) but I'm very interested in becoming a member of the group. I've always been interested in the paranormal since I was a kid; however, I'm a very facts oriented person and I tend to disbelieve a lot of stories told to me by friends, family, etc. I demand proof, haha!
Anyway, I've been serving in the military off and on for almost ten years (active duty USMC, currently full-time National Guard) and inbetween that I served as a Sheriff's Deputy in Vermilion Parish, where I currently still live. I really enjoy investigations of any sort and I tend to dig very deep into an issue until I can't go any further. I'm also a big fan of anything electronic and I'm fairly computer savy. Unfortunately, I'm leaving in a few months for a year long deployment, but I'd still like to talk about a possible future membership if possible. Thanks for your time, and I'm looking forward to talking to like-minded individuals on the forum!

Hey Toby, How has it been since your last post? Have you found anything out about your residence? Has the group ever came out to investigate? What goes on? Please fill us in. Are you still on deployment? Keep us informed, thanks, Jimmy

Jimmy: I'm still on deployment for a few more months. I did not have LaSpirits come over to investigate because my wife isn't very comfortable with the idea and I don't want to rock the boat with the Mrs!! I was pretty stressed over it at first but after a while I realized no harm was really being done to anyone in the house other than a few sleepless nights. Things eventually started to settle down once we began to ignore it. The activity was nothing too severe, and for a few years I chalked it up to my Cop/Military awareness just getting the best of me. They teach us to be hyper-aware or our environment so I figured I was just being over-cautious. I believe in the paranormal but I tend to not believe many of the stories I've heard but some of the claims or just outlandish (I don't disbelieve everyone but I like to see facts and proof, its the cop in me ) In the summer of 2009 my wife and my mother-in-law both sat me down and told me about the many experiences they had in my house, which blew me away. There are other specific things we've experienced in the house that affected my children and my wife and I but those are private events I'm not really comfortable sharing on an open forum. Since I've been gone the activity has been very rare and everyone at the house has gotten so used to the bumps and voices that it's just part of everyday life now. It definitely changed my outlook on the paranormal and I'm more interested than ever in learning more about the subject and possibly becoming an investigator myself one day. Sorry it took me the better part of a year to respond, I've been a little busy playing in the sand out here. Toby

Hi, Toby. Thake care of yourself out there in the sand. Thanks for letting us know that the activity is just "background" now. Generally, the most "harmful" aspect is that activity represents an "unknown", it happens in our homes where we want to relax and feel secure, it makes us ask "Am I crazy?", and it's generally not subject to "control". At least, not in the sense one might subdue and cuff a belligerent drunk. And that "proof" thing is the Holy Grail we all do search for, every investigation. It's just called Truth, and, not to totally get all cliched up, it can be stranger than fiction. Keep us posted out how things are going on, over there in the sand.

I most certainly will keep you guys posted. I struggled with the unknown for a while and I definitely hated the fact that I couldn't control what was happening until I realized I COULD control it by ignoring it and not letting it control our lives. Reading a lot of the articles and posts on this site did help me quite a bit in understanding the paranormal and I'm grateful for the information and knowledge I've gained. I was actually able to "debunk" a few experiences I had which was actually kind of fun as well. I'm hoping to continue learning about the paranormal when I get home and I'd love to join a group and get more experience from working with experienced investigators.
Take care, Toby

You're correct in education and knowledge is a means of control. We are glad we could be of help, and our site is open to try to help, just let us know.

Toby _ You mentioned that at one time, you had questions you did not want to "public post", and that's very understandable. Everyone has aspects of their life they don't want in the public. ANYTIME that you, or any one else, has questions or circumstances that you/they would like help with, 100% confidentiality, please contact me at paronormalis@aol.com, and I will do my best. No one has 100% guaranteed answers to paranormal questions, but at least we can explore the possibilities of what is happening.

I appreciate the offer to help. If I need anything in the future or if I have any questions I'll drop an email. For now, I'm just reading and learning more about the subject of investigations. Thanks again!
