As I constantly search through the web all the time for different groups, I have noticed one thing changing more and more. That is, all of these groups claim to be the biggest and best, but what makes these groups so good!? In my opinion, when the public visit paranormal websites, what are they looking for? Evidence and investigation caseloads right? Well thats not always the case with these groups. What I notice is that all these groups claiming superiority, their caseloads are extremely small, yet their media attention, sponsors, convention/conference hosting constantly grows. This basically tells us that all these "large" groups are only worried about their five minutes of fame and profiting by any means necessary.
What I decided to do was to visit 5 websites of groups widely known in the paranormal community. I wont mention these sites, as to not add more BS to this field. Lord knows we have plenty of that. These 5 groups claim to be grand in scale and always seem to have their finger in the pudding if you know what I mean. What I found was astonishing, yet not surprising. Another thing noticed is that of the investigations conducted by these groups, very few of them are of private residences, telling us basically that these groups arent very concerned with residences, as they do not bring in media attention. Here is what I found:
Group #1:
Total Investigations: 40
Private Residences: 2
Media Coverage: 252!
Group #2: (A VERY popular group always being noticed)
Total Investigations: 80
Private Residences: 30
Media Coverage: 241!
Group #3: (Been around for nearly 10 years and VERY known)
Total Investigations: 4 (WTF)
Private Residences: 1
Media Coverage: 14
Sponsors: 4 (Has hosted conventions for 6 years)
Group #4: (Been around since 2001)
Total Investigations: 14
Private Residences: 3
Media Coverage: 47
Group #5: (Group since 2008 but is already rubbing elbows)
Investigations: 0 (WTF)
Total Media: 14
Conferences: 2
Just to show I am not biased, I decided to put our very own site under the microscope:
LaSpirits: (Founded late 2005)
Total Investigations: 97
Private Residences: 41
Total Media: 43
Conventions: 1
The proof is their folks. What are many of the groups really out for?? Are some of these groups really out to help clients are simply throw the biggest shin-dig while saying they hangout with every "who's who"?? In addition, of the investigations that were conducted by the first 5 groups, VERY FEW of them even have an investigation report to accompany a simple location name so there is no way of really knowing how thorough these investigations were nor if they simply consisted of a group paying $10, taking a tour of a location, and claiming it was a full investigation.
