On the History Channel I have been watching some Shows about Demon Possession and Exorcisms, they have been showing these Preachers placing a Bible on the heads of people who are violent, yelling, screaming etc.
I admit that I dont know much about Demon Possession, but after setting in my easychair in some Deep Thoughts, I am of the belief that Possession doesnt happen overnight, I think it occurs over a good period of time, I dont think a demon just jumps into your body, and takes over immediately. and what you see on TV is nothing more than people venting lifes anger and frustration, theatrics.
I would amagine that true Demon Possessed People would spit upon, hate even the sight of a Priest, or a Preacher, or the crucifix, therefore, they wouldnt even go near a church, but yet on TV, you see these so called Preachers in a church ordering demons out of a person..
So, am I wrong in my thinking?..Opinions always welcome.

There are always exceptions to just about everything, but the generally recognized steps in possession are: 1. oppression 2. obsession, then 3. possession. And generally, it's a gradual process, with the victim "accepting" what's happening. However, ''accepting", when it's more "inviting" may speed up the process. Possession doesn't imply 100% control. The possessing entity (entities) may indeed dislike anything to do with the church, or Christ, but the possessed person may be able to still make some choices, and fighting the de-possesion/exorcism battle, especially when it involves the Solemn Rites, is better on Holy Ground. It may depend on the victim, the priest, or circumstances. Reference the cases of the Anglican priest Christopher Neil-Smith, some exorcisms peformed over the phone. Also, keep in mind in some of these cases, possessions may vary by degree.
