Ok, here's my first shot at stepping up to the b!tchin plate. It seems as if every time I turn my heard, "ghost groups" are popping up daily. With the birth of tv shows, everyone feels they will be the next celebrity and get their 5 minutes. People are in such a rush sometimes, they end up making total asses of themselves, their group(s), and ultimately the entire paranormal community.
First off, it is getting to be a joke the determination of some groups to come up with an acronym that has some catchy ring. They are trying so hard at times, that they end up making a complete ass of themselves. Lets face it...sometimes, depending on where you live, an acronym just wont work! One time, I came across a group called the "Central Organization that Research Unknown & Paranormal Things" (C.O.R.U.P.T.)! I mean, come on, how reliable and professional does that sound: "Hi, Im CORUPT and Im here to help!". In an attempt to poke fun at this, I once created a feaux Ghost Group for sh!ts and giggles called the "Spirit Hunters Investigative Team" (S.H.I.T.) I even had made them a little website at www.freewebs.com/spirithuntersinvestigativeteam
Another thing that really pisses me off are groups that are so determined to "move up" on the food chain that they refuse to use any analytical skills nor do they dare to attempt to look for logical explainations for claimed paranormal activity. Basically, every place they have ever gone is haunted. There is one particular facet, that I wont reveal, that I dont think has ever been to a single place that has been labled "not haunted". Whats even worse, is when you list the residences of some of your investigators as your investigation sites. What these people need to realize is that finding all these places and labeling them "haunted" is not what makes you "made" or reputable. At the moment, it may please you and even may pacify an unknowing client who just wants some reassurance, but in the long run you are only fooling yourself.
I am a firm believer in working side by side with other groups and doing what I can to help other starting out. What really urks me is when you do all you can to help groups that you feel need the assistance, they take it, then decide that they are gonna turn on you, talking about you behind your back. These are the same losers that will sit in front of you and deny ever saying anything negative
Ive said it before and I will say it again....why is there so much f*cking drama in ghost hunting?!?? Its just a hobby...thats it!
