I am looking for some help with audacity program. I have things to listen to and try and figures out if anythng is there for possible evps. But the software is causing me problems. I can not get the back ground noise to stop so I can listen to the clip that my sister sent to me. Any help is grateful. Plus any help on other programs that can be used for evps that are a little easier to use.
Thanks

This is a link to another editing program. I was using Audacity until I found this one and I like it much more. free-audio-editor.com/

Thank you. I will look into it later on today. I guess what I am really having a problem with is the fact that what I am trying to clear up and listen to is from a cassette tape. I am getting a lot of background noise but when I remove it I pretty much lose the voice as well. I am hearing voices but it is just hard to hear it with all the static from the tape. I hope this will have me. I am still waiting for my copy to get to me from my sister. I get to do all of this from overseas and it's hard not to have anything but a copy. I will try it and see.

If you are using an analog recorder, use an external microphone and that will cut out alot of the noise as well. And never use the same cassette twice, you could have bleed through.

Thanks good tip. Well it was my sister who had the cassette tape. I am told the tape was used once the one time and now I have taken her into the next era. She has three digital recorders now so she has been using them. She just forgets to check the batteries on the mic. She now has two of them as well. I have played with three different programs now and really I can not say she has send me anything that I can call a EVP. So I wait longer for more stuff from her. Thanks again.

I use Cool Edit.. it has a noise reduction filter and will mask out background noises. It's very useful for EVP and not hard to use.
